2Floor1 handled the installation of my new custom maple hardwood floors. I was remodeling my entire home, and among other things, tore out the 50+ year old oak floors and redid the entire upstairs and one downstairs room. In total, we re-did floors in three bedrooms, the living room, dining room, and staircase. Maple, I now know, is a really hard, dense wood and very hard to work with and stain properly. Erez Shifferman, the owner of 2Floor1, could not have worked harder to get my floors right. He starts with coming out and walking the job in advance, to be sure you both are on the same page. He immediately made two recommendations that I greatly appreciated and eventually agreed to do. First, I originally was being cheap and leaving one bedroom floor undone to save money. Erez pointed out how different that floor was going to look in contrast to the new ones and also, how difficult and dusty a job that would be to do later if I subsequently changed my mind. He was right, and we revised the job to include that third bedroom. Now that the job is done, I cannot imagine how disappointed I would have been with myself if I hadn't done so, as the old floor was in terrible shape and would have looked so out of step with the rest. Second, Erez strongly suggested laying a layer of plywood first to level the surface perfectly before installing the floors. This too turned out to be a very smart move, even though it meant having to re-do the calculations with respect to the adjourning kitchen tile floor, and adjusting the thickness of the maple wood I was ordering. Nonetheless, it made really good sense, as I want these floors to last for decades and in order to ensure that, having the proper base was super important. There were some other logistics issues that came up during the installation that were in no way related to Erez, but impacted him nonetheless. He had to wait for weeks on a couple of occasions as a result, which rightfully could have caused him to be upset - but he never was anything less than professional and courteous throughout what was a long, arduous process. The net result are beautiful floors, and now that I've been in the house for a few months, I even better appreciate all the suggestions that Erez made and the fantastic job he and his crew did. He makes himself available, meets you whenever you ask and is a true professional. The others are right when they say he is a man of his word, and that is so important in construction, where things can and inevitably will go wrong. That's when you come to truly appreciate a dependable professional like Erez. I heartily recommend his company.
